Watercolors of fungi. [184-?]

Illustrations of 50 fungi or algae found in England. Perhaps a catalog of a collection ("our" collection is mentioned in several descriptions). The illustrations are accompanied by brief descriptions in ms. on facing leaf. Under each ill. is a caption in different ms. Descriptions refer to the English origin of the volume. Each description includes a numerical citation either to Sowerby's Coloured figures of English fungi or mushrooms, English botany (1790-1814), or Scottish cryptogamic flora (1823-1828). The date 1824 is mentioned in one description as being in the past. The Rev. M.J. Berkeley (1803-1889) is also mentioned. Binding is probably contemporary and includes, in addition to the end sheets, two binder's blanks, in front, and one in back. Calf spine and corners over marbled boards; marbled end sheets. Paper watermarked J Whatman 1822 and J Whatman 1827 (James Whatman, 1702-1759).

[100] leaves, bound : 50 col. ill. (watercol.) ; 24 x 15 cm.
